In October 2008 Ametek, Inc acquired the programmable power division of Xantrex, Inc who were also the owners of the EEC group which consisted of Sorensen, Elgar, Reflex Power and Power Ten. Ametek were already the owners of California Instruments.

In consequence, Ametek Programmable Power is now one of the largest power supply companies in the world with products that cover every aspect of ac and dc power.

The mobile power and renewable energy divisions of Xantrex were purchased by Schneider Electric, and the Xantrex name continues to be used for these products. However, the purchase agreement precluded the use of the Xantrex name on programmable power products after March 2009.

Programmable power products previously branded as Xantrex continue to be available but are now under the Sorensen brand name. Model numbers remain unchanged
