Description
Now you can test any product that operates from AC power with the most compact, versatile power source in the test industry. The L-Series’ small size provides more power per inch than most other AC supplies. Highly efficient, these products dissipate less heat than previous generation systems and allow up to an additional 10 % output power.
With a programmable controller, L-Series models provide the most comprehensive set of programmable functions in the industry. Automatic remote calibration and comprehensive self-tests simplify maintainability.

All L Series units are completely self-contained. Control is through an embedded oscillator, factory configured to your specific requirements. Output parameters are controlled via the front panel or the IEEE-488 bus. Bus programming, standard with -P,
-PT and HGA controllers, allows programming and measurement function readback compatible with a number of other standards including VXI, MXI and RS232 via recommended translators. To simplify programming, the standard unit supports both Abbreviated Plain English programming and an ATLAS-based control language.

For avionics applications, any 3-phase model can be configured with 26 V and 5 V auxiliary outputs. (AX option)

The L Series is ideal for applications where small size, low heat dissipation and light weight are important. These include DC power supply testing, production test, quality assurance verification, engineering and ATE.

Controller Capabilities
The L Series uses a modular plug-in controller approach that enables several controllers with different feature levels to be selected. For simple manual operation, the -M controller provides rotary knobs for setting voltage and frequency. Both front panel and computer control is available using one of the -P or -PT controller options. Units equipped with -P or -PT controller options also offer built in measurement functions. The following controller options are available for the L Series.

Transient generation
* Frequency range can be extended down to 17 Hz at reduced voltage. Models 6000L and up have upper frequency range of 440 Hz when in single phase output configuration.

All programmable controllers offer output measurement functions for voltage, rms current, power, power factor, phase (three phase systems) and frequency. Three phase models can be used in single phase mode by adding the -MODE option which allows automatic switching between single and three phase modes from both the front panel and the IEEE-488 bus.
Programmable controllers also include a standard IEEE-488 remote control interface and a Windows ™ Graphical User Interface (GUI) for PC control.

Applications
The extended output frequency range of 17 Hz to 5000 Hz (-P Controller only with certain models) makes the L Series suitable for both commercial and avionics applications. Dual voltage ranges provide maximum output current at any programmed voltage up to 400 Volt. (-EHV option, some options are mutually exclusive) The built in measurement functions often eliminate the need for additional test equipment. Due to the many configuration possibilities of the L Series family of products, California Instruments is able to supply systems that specifically meet your application requirements. Remote Control
All L Series AC sources shipped with a programmable controller (-P or -PT) include a Windows ™ Graphical User Interface (GUI) program. The GUI supports all functions and capabilities of the L Series controller used.
· Control all output parameters such as voltage, current limit, phase and frequency.
· Compile lists of transient programs on disk for quick recall and execution
· Measure and record key output parameters such as volt rms, current, peak current, real power, and power factor.
· Run RTCA/DO160C (requires option -160) or MIL-STD 704D tests (requires option -704)
· Monitor remote control commands over the bus using the built in command viewer window to quickly learn how to program the L Series yourself.

Of course, drivers for popular programming environments such as LabView ™ are available as well for custom software development. If needed, the front panel can be locked out to prevent operator intervention during test runs.

Factory Installed Amplifier Options:
One of the following options may be specified at time of order:
-EHV High voltage. Changes output transformer to 200 / 400 V rms L-N. (45 Hz to 1000 Hz output frequency range only).
-HV High voltage. Changes output transformer to 156 / 312 V rms L-N.
-LV Low voltage. Changes output transformer to 67.5 / 135 V rms L-N. Especially useful when 115 V L-L output is required.
One or more of the following options may be specified at time of order:
210960 Rack slides.
-AX Provides separate isolated 26 VAC regulated and 5 VAC unregulated outputs. The 26 V is normally used for servo-synchro excitation, and the 5 V for lamp power. Available on Models 2750L, 4500L, 6000L and 1503L only.
26 Volt
Accuracy: ±2%.
Current Capacity: 3 Arms.
Frequency: 360/440 Hz.
Regulation: ±0.05%
5 Volt
Accuracy: ±5%.
Current Capacity: 5 Arms
-LKM: Clock/Lock Master Unit. Installs necessary hardware to adapt to one slave unit.
-LKS: Clock/Lock Slave Unit. Installs necessary hardware to accept Clock/Lock inputs from LKM unit. Only two slave units may be driven from a master unit.
-OR: Adds output relay control to 751L - Standard on all other L-Series models.
-UP Allows 2750L, 4500L, 9000L and 13500L systems to be powered from 342 V to 456 V L-L 3 phase input. Note: this option reduces the maximum output power by 10 %. Not available on 6000L, 12000L and 18000L systems.


Factory Installed -P and -PT controller Options:
-160 RTCA/DO-160C test firmware.
-555 Lowered output impedance. (Not available on all models)
-704 Mil Std 704D test firmware.
-MODE Allows switching between single and three phase mode. Available for 4500L to 18000L models only.
-MT: Primarily for military applications, where CIIL and full confidence test is required. Not available on 751L.
-OMNI-1-6 Impedance matching network for IEC-1000-3-3 flicker tests. One phase, 6 Arms. For use with 751L, 1501L and 2001L.
-OMNI-1-18 Impedance matching network for IEC-1000-3-3 flicker tests. One phase, 18 Arms. For use with 2750L and 4500L, single phase.
-OMNI-3-6 Impedance matching network for IEC-1000-3-3 flicker tests. Three phase, 6 Arms per phase. For use with 1503L, 2750L and 4500L, three phase.
-OMNI-3-18 Impedance matching network for IEC-1000-3-3 flicker tests. Three phase, 18 Arms per phase. For use with high power, three phase configurations.
-RPV: Allows amplitude of any L-Series unit, when using a manual oscillator, to be programmed with an external 0 -10 VDC input.
-SQW: Allows square wave capability with programmable controller. Not available on 2750L-1, 4500L-1, 6000L or any multi-box system.
